What Is a Physiotherapy Assessment?
A physiotherapy assessment is the foundation of effective treatment. During this comprehensive 60-minute session, our HCPC-registered physiotherapist conducts a detailed evaluation of your musculoskeletal system to identify the precise source of your pain, dysfunction, or limitation.
Unlike a standard GP appointment, our assessment is entirely focused on your physical health. We combine a thorough medical history review with hands-on clinical testing to build a complete picture of your condition — not just where it hurts, but why it hurts.
Who Is It For?
Our assessment is suitable for anyone experiencing pain, stiffness, weakness, or reduced function — whether from a recent injury, a long-standing condition, or post-surgical recovery. You do not need a GP referral to book.
Common reasons patients visit us for an initial assessment include persistent back or neck pain, sports injuries, joint stiffness, post-operative rehabilitation, and chronic pain that hasn’t responded to other treatments.

What to Expect
Your session begins with a conversation about your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and goals. We listen carefully because understanding the full context is essential for an accurate diagnosis.
Next comes the physical examination — a series of specific tests including range of motion measurements, muscle strength testing, joint mobility assessment, and specialised orthopaedic tests relevant to your condition. Every test has a clinical purpose; we explain what we’re doing and why throughout.
By the end of your assessment, you’ll have a clear understanding of your diagnosis, a personalised treatment plan, realistic goals, and — where appropriate — your first treatment will begin that same session.
